Criteria for Certification
The American Society of Workers Comp Professionals, Inc., (AMCOMP) works to raise the professional standards of practice in the field of workers compensation. AMCOMP will certify professionals who demonstrate proficiency in workers compensation by the successful completion of the WCP® course curriculum final exam. Certification will be designated as “WCP®” (Workers Compensation Professional).
Criteria for Certification
As a minimum for consideration by the Board of Directors, each candidate should satisfy the following requirements:
a. Completion of the following:
(I) Successful completion of AMCOMP Chapters One – Six take home exam.
(II) Successful completion of the AMCOMP proctored accreditation exam, inclusive of all chapters.
b. Membership in AMCOMP®: Be an individual member or designated corporate member in good standing.

Ordering of Materials and Testing
a. Enrollment in AMCOMP’s WCP® certification program may be obtained by completing an enrollment application
and certification order form and mailing them to:

b. Enrollment applications and order forms are available on the Association website HERE or by
emailing AMCOMP’s administrative office at: firstname.lastname@example.org, attention Thomas Shovlin.
c. A home study exam (based on the honor system) is required to be taken upon the completion of Chapters One – Six of
the “Course Guide”. The exam should be returned for grading within 30 days of receipt of the exam. To request that
an exam be sent to you, fill out a Certification Order Form and mail or fax it to the above address.
d. Notification of exam grades will be issued in writing within 30 days of receipt.
e. The fee for enrollment is $1000 per student and includes the following:
- Text Book
- Course Guide
- Home Study and Final Exams
- WCP Certification Diploma and Lapel Pin
f. To retake the final exam, there is a nominal exam fee of $125.
Final Exam Testing
a. Final course testing, typically, is offered at least bi-annually and is inclusive of all chapters.
(Note: The final proctored exam can be given in conjunction with AMCOMP conferences or seminars so that individuals attending can sit for the exam in an effort to offset travel expenses. Special arrangements can also be made with the student’s employer to have the exam proctors at their work location. The final proctored exam will also be given at other times and places arranged by AMCOMP).
d. Applicants will be notified in writing within 30 days of test results.
e. Upon passing the final exam, individuals will receive a Certification Certificate and a WCP® Lapel Pin. Certified individuals may also display the letters “WCP®” next to their name in all professional correspondence and on business cards. In addition, WCP’s®’will be highlighted in newsletters and on the AMCOMP web site. Individuals who do not pass the final exam are eligible to re-take the exam for a nominal fee at a future date.

Application for Certification
The application for certification must be completed on forms provided by AMCOMP. The application requests the following information:
a. Name, address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail (home and office);
b. Present and prior business affiliations;
c. Work experience;
d. Areas of specialty;
e. Certificates and other licenses held;
g. Professional associations;
h. Signed statement by applicant that he/she will agree to abide by the By-laws and professional standards of AMCOMP, that the information provided is subject to verification; and the applicant agrees that the information is accurate to the best of his/her knowledge, information and belief after taking reasonable steps to ensure its accuracy.
i. Any other information the applicant believes should be provided to the Board of Directors.
A directory of certified Workers Compensation Professionals (WCPs®) may be maintained by AMCOMP and can/will be used in any published directory, newsletter or web site.
